meet the team

Fitzgerald Robertson
Co-Founder & President
-
My name is Fitzgerald Robertson, and I am a 21-year-old entrepreneur from Brooklyn, New York. Currently, I am a Junior at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA where I am pursuing an Honors B.S. degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Entrepreneurial Studies, Marketing & Human Resource Management. I am also pursuing minors in Sociology and Finance. Since 13, I have been operating my own businesses, and very quickly I fell in love with online fashion retail, because it allows customers to express their individual identity.
-
In September of 2015, I became frustrated that my peers (college students) did not purchase from my online designer fragrance marketplace. This frustrated me, because I have always wanted to provide value to those that I can relate most closely with. Over a period of three weeks, I sat down with dozens of my peers and asked them why they did not purchase from my business. The feedback that I received was unanimous; lack of perception of value of a fragrance, and resistance to the general price point. This is when the concept for Gray Hemlock was born: stylish fashion accessories, at an affordable price.
-
After months of development, in January of 2017 the team and I came across the documentary, "The True Cost" (Click here for info on the film.) "The True Cost" highlights the status quo of fashion manufacturing, and helped me to realize that a large portion of fashion products are produced in absolutely deplorable conditions. I was stunned! I thought that these were issues of yesteryear! This film massively changed the way that I looked at the fashion items that we all wear, love and cherish. This is when ethical & responsible practices in fashion became imperative to Halie and I. We decided only to list items that break the trends and practices that the film highlights.
-
We are extremely excited, motivated, passionate and determined to execute at our highest capability! In order to develop ourselves personally and professionally, while ensuring that Gray Hemlock becomes THE market leader in ethically and responsibly made fashion.
-
Furthermore, it is my newfound personal mission to use entrepreneurship as a tool to help consumers to affect the positive change that the world needs & I hope this is evident to you through Gray Hemlock!
-
Please feel free to reach out to me here, if you have any feedback, or if there is anything that you would like to discuss! I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner.
Halie Torris
Co-Founder & Creative Director
-
My name is Halie Torris and I am a graphic design major at Seton Hill University. I grew up right outside of Pittsburgh in the small town of South Park. I am minoring in entrepreneurial studies and have always been ambitious about using my creativity. Around a year ago, I was invited to join Gray Hemlock and thought it was the perfect opportunity to join the team. Therefore, I began re-branding the company and trying to find the best design schemes to fit our value proposition. Since then, we have journeyed through a lot of changes, and I have learned a lot about what fits our brand and how to connect these themes with the customers.
-
Another aspect of Gray Hemlock that I really like is being able to work in a team dynamic. Since third grade, I have played basketball and currently play on the Seton Hill Women's Basketball Team. Therefore, it is important for me to work within a team in order to build trust, solve problems, and become more comfortable with receiving their opinions on my designs. By accepting their opinions, I can propel my creative concepts further so they can reach their full potential. On a day-to-day basis, we work as a team and collaborate on new ideas on how we can improve the business and make it thrive.
-
In the end, it is our mission to make Gray Hemlock the best that it can be. We are passionate about creating a brand that people want to be a part of. We want to change the way that customers think about ethical fashion and search to find merchants who feel the same way.
-
Thank you and I hope that you love the products as much as we do.
Please feel free to reach out to me here, with any questions, comments or concerns.
